In April 2021, the Veterans Administration has announced an expansion to the VA home loan eligibility for those with National Guard service. This broadens the eligibility for certain members serving in the National Guard. Learn more about the qualifications here.

Now, certain National Guard members will have access to the Veterans Administration home loan program that allows 100% financing, zero down home loans.

To be eligible, the Guard member must have performed not less than 90 cumulative days of full-time National Guard duty; of those, 30 days must have been consecutive. Full-time National Guard duty includes training or other duty in the member’s status as a member of the National Guard.

Full-time National Guard duty does not include inactive duty, such as monthly drills. It also does not include basic or initial training.

Here’s a big bonus: this also applies retroactively to current and former Guard members, regardless of their service dates.  At Indigo Colorado, we encourage National Guard members who think they might have eligibility to call us; we’ll help request your Certificate of Eligibility (COE). Even if you were not eligible in the past, National Guard members now have an excellent chance of qualifying for their Certificate of Eligibility through the VA.

At Indigo Mortgage Colorado, we’re one of the top VA mortgage loan originators in the region. We are excited to serve members in the National Guard in this expanded home loan benefit, and we are thankful for your service.
